Abstract

Cet ouvrage livre une analyse de l'affaiblissement des principales institutions du marché du travail américain, issues pour la plupart de cette parenthèse exceptionnelle qu'a été le New Deal, et interroge de façon critique les bonnes performances apparentes de ce marché du travail. Il dresse un constat précis et documenté de la crise de l'Entreprise Providence, c'est-à-dire d'une protection sociale fondée dans une large mesure sur l'entreprise et peu mutualisée (à l'exception du régime public de retraite), que les syndicats ont contribué à construire aux côtés des employeurs.
