Les deux versions de la nouvelle economie

Abstract

La nouvelle economie a comme effects visibles d'accroitre considerablement l'intensite capitalistique, donc la productivite du travail. Ceci peut provenir de deux mecanismes. Un mecanisme "actif" ou il est optimal pour les entreprises d'accroitre l'intensite capitalistique parce que, en raison de gains de productivite dans le secteur qui les produit, le prix relatif des biens d'equipement (en fait des nouvelles technologies incorporees dans ces biens d'equipement) a beaucoup baisse; un mecanisme "passif", ou l'apparition des nouvelles technologies oblige les entreprises a passer a une technique de production plus capitalistique, utilisant plus des equipements de duree de vie courte. Nous comparons les evolutions observees aux Etats-Unis et les enseignements d'un modele theorique a generations imbriquees et a deux secteurs pour essayer de discriminer entre ces deux explications.
