Mali: Évaluation de la recherche agricole

Abstract

L’économie malienne est fortement dominée par le secteur agricole ; 70 % de la population active travaille dans ce secteur et l’agriculture représente près de la moitié du produit intérieur brut agricole (PIBA) (FAO 2009 ; Banque mondiale 2009). En vue de stimuler la production agricole, et d’améliorer ainsi la vie des agriculteurs, le gouvernement malien accorde une place prioritaire à la recherche-développement (R&D). La courbe des dépenses totales consacrées à la R&D agricole au Mali révèle d’abord une période de croissance progressive et soutenue qui a duré du milieu des années 80 jusqu’au tournant du millénaire (Stads et Kouriba 2004), puis une tendance irrégulière. En 2008, le pays investissait approximativement 5,9 milliards de francs CFA de 2005, soit 24,6 millions de dollars PPA de 2005 (cf. gure 1 ; tableau 1).
