La reacción de la Unión Europea ante el COVID–19

Abstract

En este documento se analizan las actuaciones tomadas hasta el momento por la Unión Europea en relación con la epidemia de coronavirus y sus efectos económicos y se reflexiona sobre la necesidad de tomar medidas adicionales para afrontar un reto fundamental para el proyecto europeo. La Unión Europea se juega mucho en esta crisis. Las economías de los países del Euro están tan interconectadas entre sí que la desestabilización de una de ellas tendría efectos inasumibles sobre las demás. Esto hace necesaria una estrecha colaboración entre todas ellas para mitigar los efectos de la crisis, repartir solidariamente sus costes y facilitar una recuperación rápida. Tal colaboración es, además, fundamental para que los ciudadanos recuperen el sentimiento de pertenencia a la Unión tras una Gran Recesión que ha alimentado el sentimiento antieuropeo y nacionalista en toda Europa.
