Note: [English Title] Environmental and Economic Impacts of Alternative Energy Use in Transportation Industry [English Abstract] Greenhouse gas emissions constitute the main cause of global warming that yields in climate change. In this study, the gas emmission and economic effects of alternative energy use in transportation industry is analyzed. Anayses are performed by utilizing 1998 input-output table. Three scenarious are suggested for the substitution of alternative energy. In these scenarios, use of petroleum and its derivatives in the transportation industry is assumed to be partially substituted by natural gas, bio-fuels and electric power. Findings of the scenario analyses provide the information that use of electricity in the consumption stage emits the least carbondioxide, therefore electricity is the cleanest energy during consumption, however emissions during the production stage of electricity should never be forgotten to reach a final conclusion regarding the cleanness. In addition, industries that are mostly affected by electricity substitution are the ones which are more dependent on imported input use. [English Keywords] Greenhouse gases, CO2 emissions, Environmental input-output matrix, Transportation industry, Alternative energy use
