Acerca das escalas de classificação

Abstract

Como é sabido, as classificações (finais) no sistema Português de ensino superior regem-se por uma escala numérica de 0 a 20, constituindo-se o seu valor médio como o limite de separação entre a reprovação e a aprovação. Noutros sistemas de ensino superior, as escalas de classificação permitem uma menor diferenciação nos resultados finais (por exemplo, o sistema norte-americano, baseado numa escala ?pseudo? qualitativa, de A a E ou F) enquanto outras permitem uma maior diferenciação por se basearem, por exemplo, num valor (inteiro) percentual. Tendo por base este facto, pretende-se neste trabalho, proceder a uma análise crítica das principais formas (em termos de escalas) de classificar o desempenho escolar dos alunos (do ensino superior), complementando, assim, análises anteriores (Caleiro, 2001; 2006; 2007; 2008) sobre as consequências dos diferentes critérios de avaliação.
