Seventh All India School Education Survey

Abstract

The broad objective of the survey is to assess the availability of schooling facility for primary, upper-primary, secondary and higher secondary stages within the habitations (including SC/ST) in different population slabs. In case the facility is not available within the habitation, the distance at which it is available. The survey is comprehensive as it covers all aspects of school education in all States/UTs. It provides certain basic inputs such as identification of school-less habitations, their population and distance at which schooling facility is available in addition to number of other important educational statistics required for planning and management of school education. The present survey also covers some new features of the emerging areas of concern.
