Abstract

In affluent countries such as U.S., the U.K. as well as Japan, subjective well-being remains unchanged for the past fifty years whereas the per capita GDP has increased several times. The answer to this issue has already discussed in terms of economics. This paper tries to provide more advanced answer; how we can gear the increase of per capita GDP up for the increase of subjective well-being of a nation, taking specifically the Japanese case. This paper tries to find out specific aspect of subjective well-being by analyzing the result of the originally implemented internet research, and concludes that expectations to the future, which is a part of subjective well-being, will rise in accordance with the increase of economy.
