Interviewing People-oriented Elites

Abstract

This working paper argues that assuming those broadly categorised as elite to be predicable and reveal similar behavioural patterns always means overlooking structural and situational contexts that could have improved results. By reviewing literature which pays attention to context and using Norway as an empirical example wherein contextual considerations arguably include downplaying hierarchy, the traditional literature on elite interviewing is criticised.
