Indicadores sociales básicos de la Subregión Norte de América Latina y el Caribe: edición 2016-2017

Abstract

Como en ediciones anteriores, la presente actualización de los «Indicadores sociales básicos de la Subregión Norte de América Latina y el Caribe Edición 2016-2017» presenta información oportuna y confiable sobre las variables demográficas, sociales, socioeconómicas y de índole transversal, de los diez países que integran esta subregión. En esta ocasión, sin embargo, se han realizado cambios que permiten centrar la atención en el cierre de brechas de desigualdad social a la luz de las nuevas metas de la Agenda de Desarrollo Sostenible (Agenda 2030). El período comprendido inicia en el año 2000 hasta el año más reciente disponible. La República Dominicana se ha incorporado como parte de los países de Centroamérica, en virtud de su ingreso al Sistema de la Integración Centroamericana (SICA) en diciembre de 2013. De igual manera, se agregaron otros indicadores y una nueva sección de Seguridad, Paz e Institucionalidad, que son valiosos para presentar otras brechas de desigualdad, y que contribuyen a la medición de los Objetivos de Desarrollo Sostenible (ODS).
