Costos y precios para etanol combustible en América Central (convenio CEPAL

Abstract

El presente documento estudia el potencial existente en la región Centroamericana para producir y utilizar etanol como combustible en mezcla con gasolina. El informe indica que para ampliar las disponibilidades de biocombustibles y poner en marcha programas nacionales de bioetanol se deben esclarecer algunos aspectos fundamentales sobre la factibilidad económica de producción local de etanol, verificando su competencia frente a otros productos de la caña y frente al actual mercado de combustibles. Se concluye que para hacer efectiva esta propuesta, ésta debe llevarse a cabo en un marco de sustentabilidad y racionalidad económica, con apoyo gubernamental en la definición de una adecuada especificación de combustibles, promoción de inversiones, fomento al desarrollo tecnológico y capacitación nacional y difusión de información a sectores interesados de la sociedad.
