Abstract

Rasgos generales de la evolución reciente En 2007 el producto interno bruto (PIB) real de Nicaragua se elevó 3,8%, tasa similar a la observada en el año previo (3,9%). El crecimiento fue impulsado por el dinamismo de las exportaciones, la inversión bruta interna y el consumo, mientras que la expansión de la demanda interna motivó un incremento significativo de las importaciones (14,2%). A su vez, la inflación presentó un repunte importante, que se refleja en el 16,9% resultante al final del año. El déficit fiscal del gobierno central (3,1% del PIB, antes de donaciones) continuó con una tendencia a la baja, al igual que la tasa de desempleo (4,9%). Nicaragua: Economic evolution during 2007 and Outlook for 2008 Abstract: General features of the recent evolution In 2007, the gross domestic product (GDP) of Nicaragua rose to 3.8%, very similar to the rate observed in the previous year (3.9%). The growth was brought on by the buoyancy in exports, gross domestic investment and consumption. The surge in domestic demand caused a significant increase of imports (14.2%). For its part, inflation experienced an important upturn, finalising the yeat at 16.9%. The fiscal deficit of the central government (3,1% of GDP before donations) continued its downward trend, as did the rate of unemployment (4.9%).
