Nicaragua: evolución económica durante 2005 y perspectivas para 2006

Abstract

1. Rasgos generales de la evolución reciente. En 2005 el producto interno bruto (PIB) real de Nicaragua creció 4%, lo que representa una pérdida de dinamismo de casi un punto porcentual con respecto a 2004. Este resultado se tradujo en un aumento del PIB por habitante de sólo 1,3%. La expansión de la economía se reflejó en el mercado laboral. Según los resultados de la encuesta de hogares, la tasa de desempleo abierto volvió a bajar por tercer año consecutivo, al pasar de 6,5%, en noviembre de 2004, a 5,6% en noviembre de 2005. Por su parte, el salario promedio real se elevó 5,3% y los salarios mínimos oficiales fueron ajustados en mayo, cuando se aprobó un incremento nominal de 16,5% en la construcción y en la actividad financiera, y de 15% en el resto de las actividades económicas. In 2005, the real gross national product (GDP) of Nicaragura increased by 4% which represents a slowdown of almost one percent with respect to the preceding year. This resulted in a mere 1,3% increase of GDP per inhabitant. The economic expansion was reflected in the labour market. According to the results of the household survey, for the third consecutive year, the open unemployment rate continued to decrease from 6.5% in November of 2004, to 5,6% in November of 2005. The average real wage increased by 5,3%, and the official minimum wages were adjusted in may, when a nominal increase of 16.5% in the financial and construction sectors, as well as an increase of 15% in the rest of economic sector's wages was approved.
