Abstract

Nicaragua: Economic evolution during 2004 and perspectives for 2005 Abstract: 1. General features of the recent evolution In 2004, the recovery that began in 2003 gathered steam, after two years of low growth rates. Additionally, in the context of the triennial programme signed with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) in 2002, the process of consolidating general macroeconomic stability was brought forward. The real gross domestic product (GDP) increased by 5,1%, constituting the highest increase in the last four years. This led to an increase of 2.5% in the GDP per inhabitant after a decrease of 0,6% during the period of 2001-2003.
