Haïti: évolution économique de l'année 2001

Abstract

1. Caractéristiques générales de l'évolution récente L'économie d'Haïti a montré pour deuxième année consécutive une évolution défavorable. En 2001 le produit interne brut (PIB) a présenté une baisse de 1,2%, qui s'est traduite par une réduction du PIB par habitant (-3%) et du revenu réel (-2,2%). Les principaux indicateurs macroéconomiques se sont détériorés. Ainsi, l'inflation a nettement augmenté (16,8%), le déficit fiscal s'est maintenu élevé (2,7% du PIB), tandis que le déficit en compte courant de la balance des paiements a atteint 1,5% du PIB. De même, on enregistre une nette régression tant de l'investissement (-6,8%) que de la consommation (-5,3%). Malgré le déclin du rapport des termes de l'échange (4%), la baisse du revenu réel a été atténuée grâce à l'importance des ressources liées aux transferts familiaux. l'incertitude persistante du panorama politique et le ralentissement de l'économie américaine ont eu des répercussions négatives sur le rendement de presque toutes les rubriques du secteur productif.
