Evolución de la economía y la política económica en Uruguay en el período 1981-1984

Abstract

Presentado en tres capitulos, el primero plantea las caracteristicas de la politica economica aplicada a partir de 1974, basada en la apertura comercial y financiera hacia el exterior, en la liberalizacion rapida del mercado cambiario y la reduccion gradual de los aranceles. El capitulo 2 examina la evolucion de la oferta global, importaciones y producto interno bruto, y de la demanda global, consumo e inversion, en los ultimos anos; revisa tambien las tendencias generales de la evolucion del sector externo, la crisis cambiaria de 1982, el fuerte aumento de la deuda externa, el elevado ritmo de la inflacion y la evolucion monetaria y fiscal. El capitulo 3 analiza algunos problemas macroeconomicos basicos, entre ellos, la subutilizacion de la capacidad productiva; la inflacion, deficit publico y desequilibrio monetario y; el sector financiero y el endeudamiento de las empresas.
