Los problemas de comparabilidad intercensal en las estimaciones retrospectivas de mortalidad infantil

Abstract

El problema de comparabilidad de las estimaciones retrospectivas de la mortalidad infantil mediante el metodo de Coale-Trussell se analiza a traves del caso de Ecuador. Las estimaciones obtenidas de los censos de 1974 y 1982 de este pais presentan diferencias de nivel, tanto en el total como por area urbana y rural. La proporcion de hijos fallecidos es una media ponderada de mortalidad cero con mortalidad de algun valor positivo, por la estructura etarea de las mujeres, junto con la paridez media del respectivo grupo de edad. Sobre esta base se procede a reponderar los datos de 1982 de paridez y sobrevivencia, utilizando la distribucion de 1974. De este ejercicio resultan tasas que muestran una continuidad en el tiempo y pequenas discrepancias en los anos comunes a las dos estimaciones.
