Abstract

La elaboracion de tablas completas de mortalidad responde a la necesidad de obtener datos por edades individuales, como son los casos de la estimacion de la poblacion escolar o la estimacion retrospectiva de los nacimientos. La descripcion de las diversas fases que comprende la construccion de una tabla completa, sigue el metodo desarrollado por Greville, en la construccion de las tablas de USA 1970. Dicha metodologia comprende 4 aspectos principales: ajuste preliminar de los datos, formulas necesarias para el calculo de las probabilidades de muerte, suavizamiento de dichas tasas, y derivacion de las restantes funciones de la tabla. De estos 4 aspectos cabe destacar el metodo de suavizamiento de las tasas de mortalidad, que se presenta en dos versiones: la de Whittaker- Henderson y la variante de Greville. Este metodo resulta de gran interes para el suavizamiento de cualquier informacion demografica, puesto que permite al usuario respetar la informacion basica necesaria.
