Demografia historica en America Latina: fuentes y metodos

Abstract

Compilacion de una serie de investigaciones que se realizaron, entre 1973 y 1976, dentro del programa de Demografia Historica que desarrollo el Centro Latinoamericano de Demografia. Dicho programa tuvo dos objetivos: primero, realizar un inventario de las fuentes de informacion demografica existentes en America Latina, principalmete durante la epoca colonial, y segundo, ilustrar la derivacion de estimaciones de nupcialidad, fecundidad y mortalidad, mediante la aplicacion de metodos modernos de analisis demografico, a datos provenientes de algunas de aquellas fuentes de informacion. En atencion a lo anterior, el documento se divide en dos secciones: en la primera se hace una descripcion tipologica de la documentacion util a la demografia historica existente en los archivos de America Latina y Espana; la segunda seccion, esta constituida por una serie de aplicaciones de metodos de analisis demografico que ilustran el uso de los datos obtenidos de los documentos que se describen en la primera parte.
