Mujer en el empleo y en el trabajo domestico

Abstract

Entre los rasgos mas sobresalientes de la situacion laboral de la mujer en America Latina entre 1960-1970 se senala que apenas una de cada 5 mujeres en edad de trabajar se incorpora a la actividad economica; las tasas de actividad acusan las cifras mas altas entre los 20 y 24 anos; la tasa de incorporacion a la actividad economica de las casadas es 2 o 3 veces menor que la de las solteras y las divorciadas y separadas exhiben los niveles mas elevados de participacion; los sectores cerrados a la mujer son: minas, canteras, construccion y transportes. Los relativamente abiertos incluyen: industria, comercio y servicios. De las mujeres empleadas entre el 40 y 55 por ciento se ubica en el sector servicios; de ellas, entre el 54 y 73 por ciento son empleadas domesticas.
