Abstract

Texto sobre aspectos teoricos y metodologicos de la tabla de mortalidad, preparado para facilitar el desarrollo de las clases de esta materia, en el Curso Regional Intensivo de Demografia que se imparte en CELADE-San Jose. Se analizan algunos conceptos introductorios, las diversas funciones de la tabla, las probabilidades de vida y de muerte, el concepto de poblacion estacionaria, las relaciones de supervivencia, las tablas modelo de mortalidad de Naciones Unidas y de Coale-Demeny, la construccion de tablas abreviadas y completas y algunas aplicaciones de la tabla de mortalidad en estudios de la poblacion. Al final de cada capitulo se incluyen algunos ejemplos ilustrativos con las soluciones correspondientes. Para complementar el estudio de cada uno de los temas considerados, se entrega una bibliografia sobre teoria, metodologia y aplicaciones de las tablas de mortalidad.
