Abstract

Examina algunos de los problemas conceptuales y metodologicos que surgen al definir la pobreza; resena el grado y la extension de la pobreza en la region; senala las principales caracteristicas socioeconomicas y demograficas de la pobreza rural y urbana, y las orientaciones para la formulacion y ejecucion de politicas destinadas a superar la pobreza.
