Migracion en areas metropolitanas de America Latina: un estudio comparativo: primera parte

Abstract

El trabajo constituye un informe de progreso del estudio comparativo de algunas encuestas de migracion hacia areas metropolitanas de America Latina. Especial enfasis se ha dado a las encuestas de Santiago, Lima y Caracas; en lo posible se incluyeron resultados generales de encuestas realizadas en Monterrey, San Salvador, Asuncion y ciudades importantes de Brasil, como Rio de Janeiro y Sao Paulo, entre otras. Este documento incluye dos de los cuatro grandes temas que abarca el estudio: a).los patrones de migracion, donde se hace referencia al volumen de la migracion, la distancia, la procedencia y la migracion en etapas; b).la selectividad, donde se analizan diferencias entre la poblacion migrante y la no migrante de las areas de procedencia en cuanto a sexo, edad, estado civil, educacion y ocupacion.
