Abstract

Seleccion de cuatro trabajos que contemplan algunos de los ultimos avances en el estudio y medicion de la fecundidad. El primer trabajo da un panorama general del estado actual del conocimiento sobre la variable demografica fecundidad. Los tres trabajos que siguen estan dedicados especificamente a la medicion de esta caracteristica. El de Leridon, pone enfasis en los componentes de la fecundidad natural (aquella en que no hay acciones preconcebidas de anticoncepcion), destacandose los aspectos biologicos que intervienen en la manifestacion de la variable. Por su parte, los trabajos de Feeney y Cho estan referidos al metodo de los hijos propios que sirve para estimar las tasas de fecundidad por edad a partir de informacion censal: en ambos casos se presentan aplicaciones
