Abstract

Describe el desarrollo de la seguridad social latinoamericana; discute los problemas actuales relacionados con la organizacion, la cobertura de poblacion y riesgos, financiamiento, prestaciones y costo de la seguridad social, asi como su impacto en el ahorro, empleo y distribucion del ingreso. Presenta seis estudios de casos (Costa Rica, Cuba, Chile, Mexico, Peru, Uruguay) con el fin de profundizar en los problemas y en las diversas politicas para hacerle frente.
