Adolescencia y juventud en América Latina y el Caribe: problemas, oportunidades y desafíos en el comienzo de un nuevo siglo

Abstract

Resumen Se aborda la temática adolescente y juvenil en tres aspectos fundamentales para someter a la consideración de los Jefes de Estado y de Gobierno. Primero se analiza la situación del crecimiento y maduración de los adolescentes, exponiendo los problemas, oportunidades y desafíos a que se enfrentan actualmente. A continuación se menciona un conjunto integrado de políticas públicas sectoriales en lo concerniente a educación, salud e inserción laboral y social. Por último se formulan proposiciones articuladas, y centradas en el terreno estratégico y de la gestión, con vistas a mejorar sustancialmente la eficacia, eficiencia y pertinencia de las acciones que se emprendan. Por consiguiente, se propone incorporar decididamente a las políticas públicas el desarrollo de una real perspectiva generacional, con el objetivo de mejorar la calidad de vida de niños, adolescentes y jóvenes.
