Uso del tiempo de mujeres y hombres en Colombia: midiendo la inequidad

Abstract

El presente trabajo busca mostrar las brechas de género existentes en el uso y distribución del tiempo entre hombres y mujeres en Colombia. Está basado en el análisis del módulo sobre actividades adicionales no remuneradas de la Gran Encuesta Integrada de Hogares del Departamento Administrativo Nacional de Estadística (DANE), para los terceros trimestres de 2007 y 2008.Además, compara el tiempo dedicado a actividades remuneradas y no remuneradas, en especial los oficios domésticos y el cuidado de niños(as), y tiene en cuenta las diferentes características socio económicas y demográficas de la población mayor de 14 años, como la edad, el estado civil, la relación de parentesco con el jefe(a) del hogar, la condición de actividad y la pobreza o no del hogar, entre otras.Presenta las sustanciales diferencias en la distribución del tiempo entre hombres y mujeres, la carga global de trabajo y la relación inversa entre el tiempo de trabajo remunerado y el no remunerado, y cómo estas labores, a cargo principalmente de las mujeres, restringen su participación y mejor inserción en el mercado de trabajo, limitando su desarrollo laboral y personal.
