Abstract

El ámbito de la ciencia, tecnología, ingeniería y matemática (CTIM) reconocido habitualmente por el acrónimo de estas palabras en inglés (STEM: Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) se ha perfilado como un espacio prometedor para enfrentar el contexto de revolución digital y cambio tecnológico acelerado, hoy agudizado y tensionado por la pandemia por COVID-19. Por ello, cobra fuerza la interrogante si este ámbito ¿puede ser considerado una vía para la igualdad de género y la autonomía económica de las mujeres en América Latina? En este informe se aborda un debate que ha estado presente en la región durante las últimas décadas, pero que requiere ser remirado ante la urgencia de formular nuevas respuestas y por sobre todo trascender las aproximaciones unidimensionales de las desigualdades de género. El documento propone identificar los vínculos —potenciales y explícitos— entre la igualdad de género y CTIM, así como las tendencias que se observan en la agenda pública.
