Principales cambios en las boletas de los censos latinoamericanos de las décadas de 1990, 2000 y 2010

Abstract

Los censos representan la fuente de datos más importante acerca de la población, puesto que constituyen el procedimiento más exhaustivo para registrar los cambios en su magnitud y composición, además de relevar información sobre diversos aspectos significativos para las decisiones en materia de políticas públicas. Este papel protagónico de los relevamientos censales en el sistema estadístico nacional explica en buena medida la preocupación por el diseño de los cuestionarios, tanto en la determinación de los temas a incluir como en los aspectos formales. En este trabajo se realiza un análisis comparativo de la longitud y el contenido de las boletas utilizadas en los censos de las décadas de 1990, 2000 y 2010 en los países de América Latina, poniendo el acento en la variación de los formularios de cada uno de ellos en este período delimitado de tiempo. Se dedica a cada país un capítulo del documento, y en el último se plantean algunas conclusiones generales surgidas del análisis de todos los casos. También se incluye un anexo con todas las preguntas contempladas en los cuestionarios de las tres últimas décadas de los países de la región, tanto las aplicadas a la vivienda y el hogar como las dirigidas a las personas.
