Inserción laboral desventajosa y desigualdades de cobertura previsional: la situación de las mujeres

Abstract

Resumen Las reformas implementadas en los sistemas de pensiones en América Latina han tenido un impacto diferenciado entre hombres y mujeres. Dada la alta correlación existente entre el mercado laboral y los sistemas previsionales, estos últimos reproducen las desigualdades entre unos y otras. Un ingreso promedio menor, una mayor tasa de desempleo, una menor tasa de participación en el mercado laboral junto a menos años de cotizaciones y mayor esperanza de vida generan como resultado que las mujeres obtienen pensiones más bajas. Este artículo se desarrolla básicamente en tres áreas, la primera aborda las características de la inserción laboral de las mujeres revisando a grandes rasgos las explicaciones teóricas y mostrando la evolución de ciertos indicadores clave. La segunda parte describe la situación previsional de las mujeres y, por último, se formulan algunas propuestas para considerar en la elaboración de políticas públicas que permitan mejorar la situación actual.
