Huella de carbono, exportaciones y estrategias empresariales frente al cambio climático

Abstract

América Latina ya está sufriendo los efectos directos del calentamiento global, con sequías, deshielos, inundaciones y fenómenos climáticos extremos. Todo esto repercutirá gravemente en la agricultura, la seguridad alimentaria, el abastecimiento de agua, la salud pública, la calidad de vida y de los ecosistemas. Parece fundamental entonces tomar más en serio las inversiones en eficiencia energética y en energías renovables no convencionales, contener la deforestación, particularmente en las selvas tropicales y gestionar adecuadamente los cultivos de biocombustible para evitar la desertificación y el daño a la biodiversidad. Por último, el desafío radica en ir gestando un modelo de producción y consumo más sostenible, caracterizado por energías limpias y empleos verdes.
