Estado de la banda ancha en América Latina y el Caribe 2016

Abstract

En este documento se presenta una visión sintética del estado de la banda ancha en América Latina y el Caribe, medida en términos de acceso, asequibilidad y uso. Si bien en el último quinquenio, se aceleró el avance de Internet en América Latina y el Caribe y la penetración de las conexiones en banda ancha también creció fuertemente, particularmente en la modalidad móvil, aún quedan pendientes problemas relacionados con la calidad y equidad en el acceso a esta tecnología. Asimismo, persisten las diferencias en el acceso entre las zonas rurales y urbanas, y entre quintiles de la distribución del ingreso.
