Innovación social en salud: un aporte al avance de los Objetivos de Desarrollo del Milenio

Abstract

El presente documento parte de un análisis de la situación de la salud en América Latina y el Caribe resaltando que, si bien en promedio ha mejorado, no hay duda de que existen grandes diferencias e inequidades que afectan a grupos muy amplios de la población a los que, en la práctica se les niega el acceso a servicios de salud. Con este panorama en mente se analizan en detalle experiencias innovadoras que atienden temas de salud, que se identificaron gracias al proyecto “Experiencias en innovación social en América Latina y el Caribe”, iniciativa de la CEPAL con el apoyo de la Fundación W.K. Kellogg. En particular se estudian tres programas que afectan la salud materno infantil y tres que se han dedicado a la atención de la salud de pueblo indígenas y comunidades multiculturales.
