Das AfD-Paradox: Die Hauptleidtragenden der AfD-Politik wären ihre eigenen Wähler*innen

Abstract

Die Unterstützung für die rechtspopulistische Partei Alternative für Deutschland (AfD) hat sich laut aktuellen Umfragen seit den letzten Bundestagswahlen vor zwei Jahren auf mehr als 20 Prozent verdoppelt. Auf der Agenda der Partei stehen vor allem EU-skeptische und zuwanderungsfeindliche Ziele. Mit Hilfe des von der Bundeszentrale für politische Bildung entwickelten Wahl-O-Mat werden die einzelnen Einstellungen der Partei verglichen mit den Anliegen ihrer Unterstützer*innen. Dabei tritt ein bemerkenswertes Paradox auf: Menschen, die die AfD unterstützen, würden am stärksten unter der AfD-Politik leiden, und zwar in Bezug auf fast jeden Politikbereich: Wirtschaft und Steuern ebenso wie Klimaschutz, soziale Absicherung, Demokratie und Globalisierung. Dieses Paradox scheint mit einer falschen Selbsteinschätzung vieler AfD-Wähler*innen und mit einer Fehleinschätzung der gesellschaftlichen Realität zusammenzuhängen.
