Wegfall von Studi-Jobs könnte Bildungsungleichheiten verstärken

Abstract

Viele Studierende erleben in der der Corona-Pandemie einen veränderten Alltag – Vorlesungen und Seminare finden fast ausschließlich online statt, gelernt wird vornehmlich von zu Hause aus. Auch finanziell müssen viele dieser jungen Menschen mit einer angespannten Situation umgehen: Oft sind es klassische Studi-Jobs als Service-Kraft oder Aushilfe, die im Zuge der Krise komplett wegfallen. Studierende aus nichtakademischen Elternhäusern werden besonders von dieser Entwicklung betroffen, da sie öfter in fachfremden Jobs arbeiten und zudem stärker auf ihre Nebeneinkommen angewiesen sind. Gleichwohl die Politik mit neuen Krediten und einem Nothilfefonds bereits unterstützend eingegriffen hat, wird dies vielfach als unzureichend angesehen. Überlegungen zu einer temporären Erhöhung des BAföG- Satzes und einer weiteren Ausdehnung der Berechtigten sollten deshalb ebenfalls weiterdiskutiert werden.
