Análisis de equidad para la enfermedad diarreica aguda e infección respiratoria aguda en menores de 5 anos en Colombia, 2005 y 2010

Abstract

Resumen Este documento realiza un análisis de equidad en el desarrollo y manejo médico de la Enfermedad Diarreica Aguda (EDA) y las Infecciones Respiratorias Agudas (IRAs) en ninos menores de 5 anos. Usando la información disponible en las encuestas de demografía y salud ENDS 2005 y 2010 se construyen curvas de concentración y se estiman a su vez índices de concentración que luego son descompuestos en factores que permiten explicar cuáles son las características socioeconómicas y demográficas que más contribuyen a que en estas enfermedades se presenten desigualdades e inequidades. Entre los principales resultados se obtiene que carencias habitacionales como el no tener acceso a fuente de agua mejorada o el hacinamiento crítico representan unas de las principales causas de inequidades en el desarrollo de la EDA y las IRAs. Por otro lado se observa que el acceso o solicitud de atención médica tiene un comportamiento que varía entre cada uno de los quintiles de riqueza según la condición de afiliación a planes de salud.
