Distribución nacional del ingreso en 1988 : Una mirada en perspectiva

Abstract

En este artículo se presenta un estimativo global de la desigualdad del ingreso existente en Colombia en 1988 y se lo compara con estimaciones previas de la literatura colombiana y con indicadores de desigualdad para una muestra de 95 países con distinto grado de desarrollo. El principal resultado, que sorprenderá a muchos e invita a un re-examen optimista de la experiencia del país en este periodo, es que la desigualdad global en la distribución del ingreso ha venido reduciéndose vertiginosamente, en forma tal que Colombia ya no haría parte, hoy en día, del grupo de países con peor distribución del ingreso del mundo, corno Si lo habría sido a mediados de los anos sesenta.
