Estudio sobre los impactos socio-económicos del sector minero en Colombia: encadenamientos sectoriales

Abstract

En este estudio, hecho por Fedesarrollo, a petición del Sector de Minería a Gran Escala, se analiza esta problemática para la minería en particular. Se concluye que si bien el boom ha sido más de petróleo que de minería hay un potencial en desarrollo que debe consolidarse. La evolución reciente de la calificación de los inversionistas del atractivo de Colombia, según rankings internacionales, se ha deteriorado, en particular, en lo que se refiere a la estabilidad de las reglas del juego. Se establece también que si bien el sector es intensivo en capital y genera un número modesto de empleos directos, los efectos multiplicadores de su actividad en la producción, el valor agregado y la remuneración al trabajo en otros sectores de la economía son mayores que los de hidrocarburos. Se concluye que estos efectos podrían aumentar aún más si el diseno de la política pública favorece el desarrollo de las actividades conexas del sector.
