Crecimiento, industrialización e inflación moderada en Tailandia

Abstract

La mayoría de los países que se encuentran en proceso de industrialización, han sido afectados por una alta inflación después de haber tenido algunos anos de crecimiento acelerado. Este fenómeno se ha presentado frecuentemente en países de América Latina como México, Brasil y Argentina, causando disminuciones periódicas en la velocidad del proceso de industrialización, a fin de controlar la inflación. También en Asia los nuevos países industrializados han tenido problemas inflacionistas al comienzo de sus procesos de industrialización. Corea por ejemplo, comenzó su industrialización rápida alrededor de 1965 y ha sufrido un crecimiento anual de los precios del consumo en un promedio del 13.9% entre 1965 y 1975. La experiencia en Taiwán era un poco mejor, pues pudo mantener la inflación durante el mismo periodo en un 8% anual.
