Premio Nobel de economía 2011: Thomas Sargent y la dinámica macroeconómica

Abstract

La academia sueca de ciencias económicas ha otorgado el premio Nobel de economía 2011 a Thomas Sargent y Christopher Sims por ´´sus investigaciones empíricas sobre las causas y efectos en la macroeconomía´´. Los laureados han desarrollado métodos para responder a variadas cuestiones respecto a las relaciones causales entre la política económica y diferentes variables macroeconómicas como el PIB, la inflación, el empleo y la inversión, entre otras. Es decir, el Nobel del ano 2011 es un reconocimiento a los métodos que se vienen desarrollando desde los anos setenta para responder a las cuestiones empíricas de la macroeconomía y las aplicaciones a la interrelación entre la política y la actividad económica. Aunque ambos laureados han hecho un trabajo que se complementa, este documento se propone hacer unos comentarios sobre el aporte particular de Thomas Sargent.
