Informalidad Laboral y Pobreza Urbana en Colombia

Abstract

El argumento principal en este documento es que la pobreza tiene origen en las relaciones de producción, en la manera como los individuos generan sus ingresos. Por tanto, se analiza la relación entre la informalidad laboral y la situación de pobreza de los hogares urbanos de las trece áreas metropolitanas de Colombia. La informalidad laboral se mide con respecto al criterio de la Organización Internacional del Trabajo (OIT) en donde se identifican las unidades económicas de menor productividad, y la pobreza se mide con la línea de pobreza ajustada por el Departamento Nacional de Planeación (DNP). La principal conclusión es que el hecho de que el jefe del hogar se encuentre en el sector informal del mercado laboral hace que el riesgo de que su hogar sea pobre se incrementa en un 125% con respecto a aquellos que se encuentran en el sector formal.
