El mercado del atún en Colombia

Abstract

Este estudio tiene como propósito central efectuar una evaluación y estimación del tamano de la cadena atunera, que pueda servir de base para la toma de decisiones de los agentes del sector y del Estado colombiano en relación con el mismo. El trabajo se organiza de la siguiente manera: Inicialmente se presentan las características principales del mercado del atún en el mundo. Luego se explican algunos elementos que ilustran la participación de Colombia en el mercado mundial y en la Comisión Interamericana del Atún Tropical. El capítulo central del estudio se dedica a explicar y cuantificar las características y participación de los principales eslabones de la cadena atunera en el país: el proceso de pesca o captura, la importación de atún enlatado, el procesamiento industrial, las exportaciones y la comercialización doméstica. Finalmente, se presentan las principales conclusiones del análisis resultante de esta investigación.
