Concentración y Especialización Regional de la Industria Manufacturera según Áreas Metropolitanas y Sectores Industriales

Abstract

Resumen ¿Cuáles son los patrones de especialización y concentración del sector manufacturero en Colombia? ¿Dependen estos patrones de las variables utilizadas? Para contestar estas y otras preguntas relacionadas este documento propone una metodología para identificar los sectores industriales que tienen el mismo patrón de concentración y las áreas metropolitanas que guardan un grado similar de especialización. Adicionalmente, se plantea para las áreas metropolitanas de Barranquilla, Bogotá, Bucaramanga, Cali, Cartagena y Medellín una tipología de especialización que permite clasificar los sectores industriales en cuatro categorías: Dinámicos, Emergentes, Estancados y Declive. Se concluye que los patrones de especialización y de concentración, así como la tipología de especialización cambian de acuerdo con la variable empleada (producción o empleo).
