Un análisis de la relación entre inversión extranjera y Comercio exterior en la economía colombiana

Abstract

Desde la década de los anos ochenta se ha calificado a la Inversión Extranjera Directa (IED) como una importante fuerza dinamizadora del desarrollo económico de los países huéspedes de estos recursos, debido a que facilita la acumulación de capital, genera empleo, transfiere conocimientos y tecnología e incrementa el recaudo impositivo. Así mismo, estudios recientes le han atribuido un papel muy destacado en el fomento al comercio exterior. En términos generales se afirma que las firmas con inversión extranjera estimulan las exportaciones de las países huéspedes dado que cuentan con mayor acceso a los mercados internacionales, mejor manejo de las redes de comercialización y un alto conocimiento de las exigencias de los consumidores. Estudios elaborados para países del este y sureste asiático han senalado que el mayor aporte de la inversión extranjera dirigida a estos países – principalmente proveniente del Japón - ha sido el estímulo brindado al mayor dinamismo y diversificación de las exportaciones (Mortimore 1993).
