Discriminación salarial por sexo en Colombia: un análisis desde la discriminación estadística

Abstract

En esta investigación se utiliza la metodología de Altonji y Pierret (2001) para estudiar la existencia de discriminación estadística por sexo en el mercado laboral colombiano para tres grupos de individuos hijos del jefe de hogar con características diferentes: de 30 anos o menos, de 20 anos o más y casados o en unión libre e individuos de 20 anos o más y solteros. La existencia de discriminación estadística y aprendizaje por parte de las firmas tiene lugar si con el paso del tiempo el salario del individuo está menos determinado por variables fáciles de observar como la educación y el sexo. A su vez más determinado por aquellas difíciles de observar por parte de las firmas que están positivamente relacionadas con la productividad del individuo, tales como la educación y el salario del jefe de hogar. Los resultados muestran que no hay evidencia de discriminación en el sector público, pero que existe alguna en el privado, especialmente en el caso de aquellos individuos casados o en unión libre.
