Composición de la economía de la región Suroriente de Colombia

Abstract

La composición económica de la región Suroriente desde la década de los sesenta hasta la actualidad, se sustenta principalmente en el sector primario, al comienzo con predominio de las actividades agrícola y ganadera, y después con el auge de la minería, mediante la explotación intensiva de petróleo, sobre todo en los departamentos del Meta y Casanare, consolidados como los mayores productores del país. Por el lado del sector secundario, su importancia ha sido marginal a lo largo de los anos en esta región, caracterizado por una industria incipiente; mientras el terciario ganó espacio importante al lograr una proporción media superior al secundario, respaldado por los avances en comercio, hoteles y restaurantes, administración pública y comunicaciones, entre los principales. ustrial continuó siendo un renglón importante en la actividad económica de la región.
