Composición de la economía de la región Caribe de Colombia

Abstract

La región Caribe, ubicada al norte de Colombia, tiene una posición geográfica estratégica que facilita el comercio exterior a través del mar Caribe. La base económica de la región Caribe es variada, se destacan la agricultura, la ganadería, la minería, la industria, el turismo y el transporte marítimo. Las actividades agropecuarias e industriales han perdido peso relativo en las dos últimas décadas, mientras que la minería y los servicios han registrado cambios importantes que le han permito ganar participación en la producción nacional. La industria está concentrada en Barranquilla y Cartagena, es poco diversificada y está escasamente encadenada a la minería y la agricultura
