Composición de la economía de la región noroccidente de Colombia

Abstract

La región noroccidente, conformada por los departamentos de Antioquia y Chocó, ocupa el 9,6% del territorio nacional y en 2010 contiene el 14,4% de su población. Geográficamente le corresponde, en Antioquia, la zona norte de las cordilleras Occidental y Central, así como, hacia el Chocó, costas en los océanos Atlántico y Pacífico. Su territorio define diferentes estructuras socio económicas como una biodiversidad distinta en los dos departamentos. En la primera década del siglo XXI la región contribuyó con el 14,1% en promedio al Producto Interno Bruto (PIB) nacional. Atendiendo a su composición económica, priman las actividades de servicios, con una contribución superior al 50% del PIB regional, seguidas de las actividades manufactureras y, finalmente, las agropecuarias y minero extractivas.
