The Prospect and Challenge of China Becoming the Largest Economy

Abstract

The topic of this paper is the time needed by China for becoming the largest economy in the world, based on the current tendency of development. Four factors are estimated: GDP, speed of growth, exchange rate and GDP deflator. The results of the estimations lead to think that chinese economy will be more important than american economy in 2020. But there's still some uncertainties and difficulties. In any case, China may stay a low-middle income country.
