Structure financière et comportement d'investissement dans le secteur manufacturier ivoirien : estimations économétriques sur données de panel

Abstract

Cet article analyse le comportement d'investissement des entreprises manufacturières ivoiriennes face à un environnement particulièrement instable durant la décennie 1980. L'estimation économétrique d'un modèle de demande incertaine sur données d'un panel d'entreprises privées, sur la période 1983-1991, met en exergue une différence de réaction à l'incertitude selon le degré de contestabilité des marchés. Les entreprises protégées par des barrières tarifaires apparaissent plus sensibles à l'incertitude que celles plus exposées à la concurrence internationale. La contestabilité des marchés conduirait les firmes à rechercher une diversification de leurs débouchés, ce qui les rendrait moins vulnérables et donc plus confiantes en l'avenir. A l'inverse, les politiques protectionnistes, puisqu'elles contribuent à rendre les marchés moins contestables, amènent les entreprises à avoir une attitude frileuse dès que leurs perspectives de débouchés deviennent incertaines.
